Property registration Law
Property registration in India is governed by the Registration Act of 1908. Registration of property requires submission of some documents, payment of fees and stamp duty, and signing of documents by the seller and the purchaser. In India, there is a law in force regarding immovable property and its transfer.
Once stamp duty is paid the document should be registered under the Indian Registration Act. This is done under the jurisdiction of the District Sub-Registrar/ Sub-Registrar /Registrar of Assurance under whose local jurisdiction the property is situated. The basic purpose of registration is to record execution of document.
